An Evening with Anousheh Ansari at Calit2 @ UCSD

Cost: Free -
Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) present a lecture by Anousheh Ansari, the first female private citizen to travel to the International Space Station on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 beginning at 7:00pm at Atkinson Hall, Cal-IT2 Auditorium, 9500 Gilman Drive, on the UCSD campus. There is no cost to attend, and the event is open to the general public.

On September 18, 2006, a few days after her 40th birthday, Ansari became the first female private space explorer and first Iranian in space. Ansari is the fourth self-funded space tourist to fly to the International Space Station. The Ansari family was the title sponsor for the Ansari X Prize, won in 2004 by entrepreneur Burt Rutan of Scaled Composites. This will be a memorable night to find out what it is like to be in space and travel aboard the International Space Station as a Spaceflight Participant.

The event opens at 6:00pm with interactive exhibits from The Mars Society San Diego, San Diego Space Society, and SEDS, followed by Ms. Ansari's talk at 7:00pm. After the lecture there will be a brief question and answer session.

This event is open to the general public, and is free of charge. Reservations are not required. A map of the UCSD campus is available online at maps.ucsd.edu.
