Event details: Film: Invisible Children
Description
Invisible Children is an organization based out of San Diego, California that works with the people of war-torn Northern Uganda. There has been a civil war raging there for over 20 years, and the leaders are finishing up peace talks. However, during this war the rebel army abducted children and brainwashed them to be soldiers that viciously attacked the Acholi people in Uganda. In the wake of this war, thousands of abducted children need to be rehabilitated into society and millions of Ugandans have been forced into Internally Displaced Persons Camps. Invisible Children has inspired high school and college age students across America to raise $2 million to rebuild 10 schools in Uganda that had been attacked. But their work is far from done. Right now, Invisible Children has about 10 Road Crews that travel around America to schools, churches, and communities to share the plight of the Invisible Children. The "Roadies" will be speaking about the war and the current peace process, screening their latest film about IDP Camps, and hosting a Q and A session. This is a great opportunity to hear from people who work in the in the San Diego office and have traveled to Uganda to see the problems first hand.
