Description
Begin your walk with a trip down the hill" and through a section of downtown Kearney. If you wish, stop at MONA, the Museum of Nebraska Art (no charge). Pass over the Union Pacific tracks to the Buffalo County Courthouse. Return over the UP overpass, and travel west to the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus, where you will find the statue of Donovan Welch, nationally recognized Nebraska poet. Stroll through beautiful Harmon Park by the "lighthouse" and surrounding Rock Garden built by WPA workers in the 1930s. Complete your journey by viewing the Korean War Memorial in Apollo Park before ascending the hill" back to the starting point. Starting point open dawn to dusk.
