It would be more than slightly hypocritical for us to bad mouth the unquestionable brilliance of Hollywood but sometimes they do something that blows your mind.
One common practice of theirs is to remake movies that were perfect when they first came out and should never under any circumstances be revamped. Oftentimes the re-imagining of movies we all hold dear to our hearts ends up cheapening the original experience.
Here's your last chance to watch these classic films before Hollywood ends up cramming some half-assed remake down your throats.
The Karate Kid (1984)
Saturday November 22nd and Sunday November 23rd
7:30pm
$6.50
Everyone knows what it's like to move to a new town and to be constantly harassed by the local evil karate dojo.
Hey, it happens more than you would think.
What's a New Jersey boy in California to do?
This movie made everyone believe that taking a couple of odd jobs painting fences and waxing cars for the nice local Asian man and learning that lame crane kick was all it took to be a karate master. Ah, the naivety of the 80's was sublime.
You better take the chance to relive the nostalgia of the original Karate Kid before Will Smith, and his production company Overbook Entertainment, drop a big pile on your childhood with the upcoming remake starring ..you guessed it, Smith's son Jaden.
Ugh, the horror.
