Marasol is an American rock band formed by singer/guitarist Lain Weck, bassist Sarah Clark, and drummer Jim Benuska. The three Chicago transplants found each other in San Diego, California, in January 2008. They came into their own by drawing influences from bands such as Janes Addiction, Pearl Jam and The Police, to Mew, Queens of the Stone Age, and Muse. Marasol has set out to add their own ingredients to the ever-growing rock and roll crock pot.
With demo tracks already recorded in Chicago by Lain over the course of the previous year, rehearsals began in February 2008. After just a few short months the demos solidified into full songs and the band took them directly to the stage. Marasol continually honed their craft at San Diego hotspots the Casbah and the Radio Room and after enough demand from the following that had accrued, Marasol went into the studio to record their first release.
In late June Marasol went into the esteemed Black Box Studios to work with engineer Mario Quintero (Goblin Cock, Transfer, Swim Party) to showcase the bands raw live energy. After just a day and a half of tracking Marasol and Mario found themselves madly in love with the hard work and effort that they had all just put forth. That effort is now known as Futures and was self-released on November 7, 2008 and digitally released worldwide in February 2009.
Marasol is currently promoting the release of Futures by extensive regional touring as well as working on new material for their first full length release.
