Description
Enjoy the old (Ulupo He'iau) and the new (over 30 eating places and shops). Starting at the park, pass through central Kailua: firehouse, police station, elementary and intermediate schools. Continue up Pali Highway to Kawainui Marsh and cross on the dike for amazing views of Mt. Olomana. Return across the dike and to the He'iau walking along its newly restored and landscaped base. Back down to town and the Hamakua Endangered Bird Sanctuary, followed by a stroll around the newer stops and eating places.
