December 2008: First Jupiter Entrepreneur Meetup

This is the first rendevous for the Jupiter Entrepreneur Meetup Group and it promises to be informal and light so please "come as you are". Some of you might arrive from the golf course, for instance. Oddly enough its during the holidays but we wanted to "get one in" and "kick the thing off" in 2008, plus we know that many of you just can't escape from thinking and talking about business, especially ideas and new opportunities. No worries if you miss it though, we'll schedule the next one for January of 2009. We'll meet at the Abacoa Golf Club, just minutes away from Florida Atlantic University's campus, The Scripps Research Institute, and the grounds for the new Max Plank Research Institutes which are yet to come. Since its the holidays let's plan on getting together from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.. Drop by anytime in between those hours, again, its informal and the goal is to get you to know a few people you didn't before, and hopefully engage in some interesting chat about what interests you and/or what you are trying to work through. Full disclosure: This is not a sponsored event -- so you'll have to buy your own drinks. And there will be no food either, just to let you know (not this time). After 6:00 p.m. we might expect that a cadre of die hards moves on to Rooney's Public House in Abacoa, within walking distance of the Abacoa Golf Club. http://www.rooneyspub.com/ This is no guarantee that this procession will materialize. However, if you can't make the 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. shindig at the Golf Club, try to catch us at Rooney's after 6:00 p.m. Warning: you will have to work harder to find us there though, as we doubt that our herd of cats will wish to keep their name badges on (if we even have them at all). Ask around. We hope to see you. We welcome entrepreneurs and others as well such as service providers, angel investors, venture capitalists, government representatives (including economic development persons), scientists, inventors, academics, and anyone else with even a remote interest in entrepreneurship and new venture creation that would like to come along. The Group aims to be egalitarian in nature. A dig -- keep in mind that the founder of the group, Michael Clouser, is seeking an Assistant Organizer (or two) to help with putting together future events and hosting these meetups, putting members together, publicizing the group and its activities, and keeping the website fresh with content (easy to do with Meetup). The person(s) who might fit this role needn't be entrepreneurs themselves, just entrepreneurial -- as well as interested, engaging, outgoing, friendly, and helpful -- enjoy networking, in other words.
