      Crisis Intervention Training ~ Youth in Crisis

      This 20-hour course provides training for school resource officers, educators, school administrators, school counselors, school social workers, faith leaders, and other professionals who touch the lives of youth.  The course will provide information to trusted adults to help identify mental health disorders in youth and circumstances that can lead to crisis. This is a NAMI sponsored course. Participants will be provided with skills and resources that will assist them in providing safe, healthy environments for children and youth.  Class participants will gain knowledge of effective tools and techniques to assist and support youth and their caregivers. Day One:  8:00 to 4:00Day Two:  8:00 to 4:00Day Three:  8:00 to 12:00 Two and half day training includes the following topics: Understanding Adolescent Development Psychiatric Disorders and Treatment Suicidal and Non-Suicidal Self Injury Autism and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Bullying and Cyber Bullying LGBTQ Youth Commercial Sexual Exploitation Intellectual Developmental Disabilities and ADHD IDEA, IEP, and 504 Plans Systems Serving Georgia’s Youth Crisis Intervention and De-escalation Registration is open to school personnel from First District RESA School Systems.  Space will be very limited so early registration is encouraged.  There is no registration fee for this course.  Course costs are being covered by the Mental Health Awareness Training Funds allocated to First District RESA.  Participants must be in attendance for the entire course in order to receive credit.
