The Annual St. Johns River Cleanup is a great way to support our river and environment. Join as a team or an individual. Cleanup sites are located all through Jacksonville. You can designate a waterfront area as a cleanup site through registration. All information is available at http://www.coj.net/Departments/Environmental+and+Compliance/Clean+It+Up+Green+It+Up/St.+Johns+River+Celebration.htm No pre-registration is required but knowing how many volunteers there will be ahead of time always helps! Commemorative t-shirts are limited to one for each participating volunteer, while supplies last. Following cleanup participation, residents can obtain a t-shirt ticket and a refreshment ticket from volunteer site leaders (from 8 a.m.-11:30 a.m.) There will be refreshments at Metropolitan Park (noon-2 p.m.) and each ticket can be exchanged for refreshments and a t-shirt while supplies last. Tickets cannot be reserved or held for participating individuals or organizations, but must be redeemed in person at Metropolitan Park on Saturday, March 21, 2009. My suggestion is for meetup members to announce to the group on the message board where they will be cleaning up so that others may join them! (not necessary, just a suggestion!)
