Free Support Group for Women with Postpartum Depression or Anxiety Disorder (Destination Maternity)

INTRODUCTION:

Postpartum depression is said to be the #1 complication from childbirth, according to Postpartum Support International (PSI).  Research shows that 50% - 70% of newborn moms and 10% of newborn dads will experience some type of postpartum mood disorder. This disorder can occur anytime in pregnancy, or during the first year after giving birth.  Some women experience depression while others have extreme anxiety. You are not alone! 

 Baptist Health's Women's Services offers a FREE monthly support group for mothers of newborns (biological or adoptive) who are experiencing any type of perinatal or postpartum mood issue.  This may include, but is not limited to: sadness, tearfulness, excessive worry, difficulty sleeping, changes in appetite, irritability, lack of bonding, anxiety and any other change in mood or behavior.  Here, you will receive support from others with similar experiences as well as be taught skills to help alleviate symptoms.

This will be an on-going group held for one hour twice per month. There is no charge but space is limited so please register each time you wish to attend.  Register early as space is limited.

You do not have to be a Baptist Health patient-all are welcome to attend our group!

CLASS FORMAT:

One hour group session, 2nd & 4th Thursday of every month from 1-2:00 pm.

CLASS PREREQUISITE:

This group is for any mother experiencing Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorder during pregnancy or anytime during the baby's first year. 

CLASS REGISTRATION:

Due to limited seating, registration is preferred. 

INSTRUCTOR:

Group is facilitated by a registered nurse with special training in perinatal mood disorders.
