Blind Wine Pairing

We all know that a great meal is made even better by complimenting it with a glass of wine. Being a Dining / Cooking group I know we are all foodies and with that love of food there is an inherent desire for it to be as good as it possibly can be. "Wine tasting (often, in wine circles, simply tasting) is the sensory examination and evaluation of wine. While the practice of wine tasting is as ancient as its production, a more formalized methodology has slowly become established from the 14th century onwards. Modern, professional wine tasters (such as sommeliers or buyers for retailers) use a constantly-evolving formal terminology which is used to describe the range of perceived flavors, aromas and general characteristics of a wine. More informal, recreational tasting may use similar terminology, usually involving a much less analytical process for a more general, personal appreciation" I proposed to Bryan to do a unique wine tasting ÂÂ' but there are groups for that.ÂÂ' he said. ' Ahh but to pair the wines with food and to understand the flavors of wines and how it compliments the food ÂÂ- THAT would be right up our alley!' SOOOOOO This evening will be spent tasting wines and pairing them with foods. We will have on hand 6 bottles of wines, with labeled covered (thus the ÂÂ'BlindÂÂ') and we will taste them according to nose, flavor and we can even get deep into it and do it by glass style if you want. We will also pair each wine individually with a prepared food. This is not going to be a stuffy ÂÂ'you can only drink this wine this way with this foodÂÂ' event this is geared to determine your own palette and have some laughs doing it! For this event all food and wine will be provided and there will be a charge to come to cover the costs. Also you are encouraged to bring 2 wine glasses: one for white and one for red . (You can bring type specific glasses Pinor Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Malbec, Cabernet . If you have them, it has the potential to make the evening even more interesting) Tentative 6 Course Menu posted below but not the wines!! Cheese: Baked Brie & Blueberries Soup: Lobster Bisque Salad: Baby Spinach with Dried Cranberries & Candied Walnuts Pasta: Lemon Thyme Vodka Risotto Entrée: Rack of Lamb Dessert: Crème Brulee / Dark Chocolate This will be a learning evening, for all!!
