Johnson Museum of Art Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, 114 Central Ave, Ithaca, NY 14853, USA
This exhibition features works by some of the greatest and most incisive photographers of the twentieth century. Works by Lewis Hine, Dorothea Lange, and Tina Modotti make social and political statements, and others by Margaret Bourke-White, Edward Steichen, and Pierre Dubreuil create powerful modernist images that evoke abstraction. Still others, including Walker Evans, Berenice Abbott, and Garry Winogrand, concentrate on the minutiae of day-to-day interactions encountered on the street. The result is a rich visual witnessing of twentieth-century life.
