Immediately following the success of last season’s collaboration with the Miami String Quartet for Ellen Taaffe Zwilich’s Septet, the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio performs a spectacular new commissioned work born of another project with the Pulitzer Prize-winning composer—this time a Double Bass Quintet (à la Trout)—along with two renowned artists: violist and Guarneri String Quartet founding member Michael Tree and principal bassist of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Harold Robinson.

Described by The Washington Post as “chamber music Royalty,” the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio made its debut at the White House for President Carter’s inauguration in January 1977 and today remains one of the few chamber ensembles with all of its original members. Named Musical America’s 2002 Ensemble of the Year, the trio has served as ensemble-in-residence at the Kennedy Center since 2003 and continues to make annual appearances at the world’s major concert halls.
