Interested in learning more about Islam? This course will cover Islam as a religion, history, religious practices and beliefs, as well as social and legal institutions of Islam. The course presents basic definitions of key terms and concepts, and provides participants an understanding of the origins, developments, and limits of Islamic civilization.

Sumeyye Pakdil is a third year PhD student in the Religious Studies Department. Her interests include the relationship between religion and politics, secularism, nationalism, and the impact of religion on women's representation.
