      Human Rights Awards Breakfast

      Honorees will be recognized at the 35th Annual City of Iowa City Human Rights Awards Breakfast. Wednesday, October 24th 7:15AM (7:30-8:30 Program), Hilton Garden Inn, Ballroom, 328 S. Clinton Street. Honorees are: Susan Craig (Iowa City Public Library): The Isabel Turner Award for fair and ethical  treatment of all persons and volunteering time to an organization that works for these rights. Dr. Jack Stapleton and the Ryan White Team at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics: The Rick Graf Award for long-term commitment to a specific cause for the benefit of a specific group of persons Kevin Sanders (Iowa City Chapter of the NAACP): The Linda Severson Award for contributions to human rights by an individual in a service organization. Jennifer Shearer (University of Iowa Labor Center): The Bill Reagan Community Award for contributions to human rights by an organization. Sarah Ziegenhorn: The Kenneth Cmiel Award for actively working in the human rights field in a dedicated and determined way. Refugee and Immigrant Association: International Award for significant contributions to human rights in the global community. Keynote Speaker Dr. Tammy Nyden will address “The School to Prison Pipeline”. Breakfast tickets are available now at the early bird rate of $20 per ticket  and go up to $25 per ticket on October 15. All tickets must be purchased by October 19. No tickets are sold at the door.
