Start Point Address / Driving Directions:
Community Mausoleum, 700 W 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. The start point is located on the north side of the cemetery, near 38th Street and Clarendon Rd. From I-65, exit at Meridian Street/US 31 (exit 113) and travel north approximately 3 miles to 38th Street. Turn left on 38th Street to Clarendon Road (sign for Crown Hill Funeral Home on the corner). Turn right on Clarendon and then left to enter the cemetery. Follow the road to the right into parking area for the Mausoleum. From the East or West, take I 70 to I-65 North (Exit 83) in downtown Indy and follow the above directions. From the North, take I- 465 to Meridian Street/US 31 (exit 31).and travel south approximately 6 miles to 38th Street. Turn right on 38th St., then right on Clarendon. Event Description: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Oct – March), 9:00 AM to 6::00 PM (Apr – September) 7 days per week. The start box is located in the lobby of the Mausoleum. Please take water since there is none available on the trail. The trail wanders the beautifully landscaped and historic grounds of Crown Hill Cemetery - Indiana’s largest and the nation’s 3rd largest private cemetery. The trail includes a large hill known as “The Crown“. The cemetery is the final resting place for many famous and some infamous Hoosiers including President Benjamin Harrison, pharmaceutical founder Eli Lilly, poet James Whitcomb Riley, writer Booth Tarkington, and gangster John Dillinger.
