Description
Join us for Sita Sings the Blues, screening as part of the Indianapolis International Film Festival at the Toby theater of the Indianapolis Museum of Art. The showtime is 7:00, but I've made the meetup for 6:00 so we can socialize beforehand. Sita Sings the Blues is a unique American indie, an animated film that combines the Indian epic Ramayama with a contemporary woman's break-up story. Shadow puppets are animated against brilliantly colored backgrounds accompanied by a 1920s jazz score. The film has received raves from critics including Roger Ebert and David Bordwell. More info on the film can be found at the festival's website at www.indyfilmfest.org/. Tickets are $10. Tickets can be purchased in advance through the festival's website, although I plan to take my chances and buy mine at the door.
