	er twelve hours of savage combat on September 17\, 1862. The Battle of
	 Antietam ended the Confederate Army of Northern Virginias first invas
	ion into the North and led to Abraham Lincolns issuance of the prelimi
	nary Emancipation Proclamation. We will drive through the Memorial Ill
	umination: 23\,000 candles commemorating casualties of the bloodiest s
	ingle-day battle in U.S. history. 23\,000 Candles - One for Each Soldi
	er Killed\, Wounded or Missing at the Battle of Antietam "On Saturday 
	evening December 6\, 2008\, Antietam National Battlefield\, in coopera
	tion with the American Business Women's Association\, will host the 20
	th Annual Antietam National Battlefield Memorial Illumination in honor
	 of those soldiers who fell during the Battle of Antietam.In the event
	 of high winds or heavy rain\, the Illumination will be rescheduled fo
	r Saturday\, December 13\, 2008. The driving tour through the park is 
	approximately 5 miles long. Vehicles are to use parking lights only\, 
	to the extent technology permits this\, and continue through the event
