DESCRIPTION:Already a rising star of his generation of artists\, Micha
	el Sheppard is a pianist of dazzling virtuosity and penetrating musici
	anship. Trained at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins Unive
	rsity in Baltimore\, he studied with the great Leon Fleisher and Ann S
	chein.\n\nSheppard is a well sought-after pianist to perform in solo r
	ecitals or as a soloist with many orchestras of the world. He has also
	 played in several Weill(Carnegie)hall recitals. Sheppard has received
	 critical acclaim as a grand interpreter of transcriptions of operatic
	 tunes as well as American musical theatre in addition to the traditio
	nal piano repertory. Deeply committed to new music\, he has worked clo
	sely with composers Nicholas Maw\, Michael Hersch\, Robert Sirota and 
	John Corigliano. Sheppard is a composer in his own right and often pro
	grams his original compositions. His recently-released album of contem
	porary American music for the Harmonia Mundi label has been getting ra
