	written\, produced and played on albums that have sold millions of cop
	ies worldwide. As the original drummer for Santana\, Michael â at ag
	e nineteen â was the youngest performer at Woodstock. He helped crea
	te the first eight albums of this seminal group\, and was on the foref
	ront of shaping a new musical era.Michael is respected world-wide for 
	his adventurous experimentation with the most creative and masterful m
	usicians. No other drummer has collaborated with such longevity and so
	phistication alongside artists in such diverse genres as rock\, jazz\,
	 electronic\, DJ and world music. He is well recognized for his ground
	breaking adoption of electronic percussion when it was a new medium in
	 the 1970s.Michaelâs recording credits include the masters of popula
	r and avant-garde music â Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones\, Georg
	e Harrison\, Pete Townsend\, Steve Winwood\, Police guitarist Andy Sum
	mers\, film composer Mark Isham\, and such musical luminaries as John 
	Mclaughlin\, Stomu Yamashâta\, Klaus Schulze\, Freddie Hubbard\, Jac
	o Pastorius\, Wayne Horvitz\, Bill Frisell\, Zakir Hussain\, Airto Mor
	iera and Amon Tobin. Many notable publications have cited Michaelâs 
	outstanding work: The New York Times\, Downbeat\, Billboard\, Modern D
	rummer\, Musician\, Drum\, Paris Match\, Melody Maker\, and Life Magaz
	ine.Michael Shrieve also composes music for film and television. He wo
	rked with the director Paul Mazursky on the film\, âThe Tempest\,â
	 and scored music for Curtis Hansonâs âThe Bedroom Window\,â as 
	well as numerous television movies and shows. In 2002 Michael wrote an
	d produced the song\, âAye Aye Aye\,â with Carlos Santana\, which 
	appeared on the album\, âShaman.â Rolling Stone magazine acknowled
	ged it as one of the songs that âleaps out of the album\, joyful and
	 organic without calculation\,â and achieves âglobe-spanning eupho
	ria.âMichael continues to strive for innovative approaches to percus
	sion-based music\, and records with both renowned and emerging artists
	 (Skerik\, Jack DeJohnette\, Zakir Hussain\, Reggie Watts)\, in additi
	on to his own band\, Tangletown.Since 1990\, Michael has participated 
	in Seattleâs Bumbershoot Festival as host\, performer and curator of
	 the popular âBumberdrum\,â which brings together a stage full of 
	the many percussionists participating in this world-class annual art a
	nd music festival. Michael was the Musical Director for the pre-game s
	how of Major League Baseballâs 2001 All Star Game hosted by the Seat
	tle Mariners\, which involved over 80 drummers and dancers representin
	g numerous countries.Michael is the past President of the Pacific Nort
	hwest Branch of the National Association of Recording Arts and Science
	s (NARAS)\, and is currently writing the memoirs of jazz drumming lege
	nd Elvin Jones. He serves as Musical Director for Seattle Theater Grou
	pâs âMore Music @ The Moore\,â a program that highlights gifted 
	young musicians from Seattleâs various cultural groups.Michael Shrie
	ve currently lives in Seattle and Los Angeles. He continues to work on
	 projects that are both groundbreaking and soul-filled. In 2006 he wil
	l release a musical collaboration entitled\, âDrums of Compassion\,â
	 for which he is composer\, producer and drummer. It brings together
