was formed in 1985 in the San Francisco Bay Area and \nunleashed some
of the most intensely brutal death metal of that time.\n\nInsanity dru
mmer\, Bud Mills\, was one of the first drummers to use an \nearly bla
st beat that enabled the band to play faster than the thrash \nbeat mo
st commonly used at the time would allow. The \nvocalist/guitarist Joe
DeZuniga naturally roared out some of the most \npowerful and brutal
death metal vocals to be heard since. He was also \none of the main so
ngwriter's and the artist that created the logo \nwith the decapitated
heads. The other guitarist/songwriter Dave \nGorsuch seemed to push t
he style of guitar riffs to a more technical \nedge while mixing in st
omping heavy parts with catchy tempo changes. \nWith Joe's style progr
essing in that direction as well\, it proved to \nbe a great partnersh
ip and the two would go on to collaborate on most \nof the early mater
ial. The last element to send the music over the \nedge was a ripping
bass player and Keith Ellison played like a death \nmetal version of S
teve Harris.\n\nThe first show was played on Oct. 19th 1985 with Death
and Sacrilege \nand the band maintained a frenzied pit the whole set\
, which was \nadmittedly short because the band only had five songs at
the time. \nINSANITY then went on to play with many of the other grea
t bands that \nplayed Ruthies Inn including the likes of Possessed.\n\
nMeanwhile a live rehearsal tape that was recorded with a stereo \nmic
rophone was being circulated and an underground following was \ngrowin
g in countries around the world. About 1986 the underground \nscene wa
s really growing and a number of fanzines were coming out \nwith Insan
ity always getting one of the best reviews and urging \nreaders to sen
d for the ..85 Rehearsal Demo as the first recording \ncame to be know
	n. After that everything seemed to be on the right \ntrack.\n\nBut thi
s did not last long\, after having problems with equipment and \nfindi
ng a rehearsal studio\, Bud had to serve about 10 month's of jail \nti
me. During this time the only productive thing the band could do \nwas
to write new material. So while we were preparing to record in a \nst
udio upon Bud's release so we could finally get signed\, Joe became \n
ill with a heart disease. The band recorded one last rehearsal tape \n
with Joe after a temporary release from the hospital but it was \nevid
ent that some of his vocal power was gone due to the illness. \nSevera
l months later after a long up and down battle Joe DeZuniga \ndied on
May 16th 1987.\n\nAfter a long break the rest of us tried to keep the
	band going\, but \nwe couldn't find a singer with Joe's vocal strength
and more problems \nwe're yet to come including a number of line up c
hanges for a number \nof different reason's that kept the band from do
ing anything \nsignificant for a while. Driven by the never-say-die at
titude of the \nband and the support of the most devoted fans\, the ba
nd was reformed \nin 1989. After a few years of struggling with a coup
	le of line-up \nchanges\, Insanity signed a one-year deal with a Germa
n independent \nrecord label and released the debut Death After Death.
Unfortunately \nthe band was not complete when labels such as Nuclear
Blast offered \nto sign the band. Although there wasn't that much dif
ference between \nNuclear Blast and M.B.R. at that time. It would have
signicantly \nchanged the band's career if things happened differentl
y.\n\nInsanity played live numerous times in 1993-94 with the most not
able \nshow being at the Omni with the reformed Possessed (Mike Torrao
has \nbeen a good friend of Insanity since 1985) & Machine Head. Afte
r the \ndrummer Prakash Sharma's back problems became a problem as wel
l as \nthe local scene sucking the band took a break in late '94.\n\nI
n 1997\, the band reformed and Insanity began working on new material
\nresulting in a 3 song CD Sacrefixion. Unfortunately differences in \
nexpectations strained relations between band members and this line up
\nbroke up in late 2001.\n\nAfter setting up a professional recording
system powerful enough of \nto finish the long awaited 2nd album\, In
2004 Dave was contacted by \nMatt Harvey from Exhumed about releasing
a compilation of old school \nInsanity recordings done from 1985 to 1
994 on his new label Parasitic \nTwin Productions. Since distribution
was being set up with Relapse \nalong with the Exhumed CD of covers\,
the decision was made to delay \nthe release of the 2nd full length to
work on the compilation CD for \nParasitic Twin. This was released in
November of 2005 with the title \n"From The Grave". It features 3 rem
astered songs off the '85 demo\, \nthe Death After Death release\, and
new mixes of updated songs \noriginally tracked on the bands 8-track
	in 1993-94.\n\n From August 25th-28th 2005 Insanity completed a mini-t
our of \nCalifornia with Exhumed\, Abscess & Skarp re-sparking interes
t in the \nband in the Bay Area and Southern California. After playing
	 more \nlocal shows and regenerating a local following\, In 2007 the b
and \nwelcomed original drummer Bud Mills back as Insanity played a ri
pping \nset at the Los Angeles Murderfest where the band shared the ma
in \nstage with the likes of Repulsion\, Atheist and Obituary.\n\nIn t
he summer of 2007 as the band was preparing to record and \npreparing
for shows in Northern and Southern California\, Bud was \ndiagnosed wi
th blood clots. After more tests cancer was discovered \nand it turned
out to be Esophageal cancer stage 4. After receiving a \nfew rounds o
f chemotherapy and fighting a very tough battle for \nmonths\, we lost
	 Bud on November 14th 2007. The pre-production tracks \nBud recorded a
re being mixed and will be released in the near future \non the "Visio
ns of Apocalypse" album. The band will also be putting \nout a DVD fea
	turing Bud's last show (the L.A. Murderfest @ the \nKnitting Factory i
n Hollywood\, CA) among some bootleg live footage \nand a few videos i
ncluding Fire Death Fate '85 featuring Joe DeZuniga.\n\nOn October 4th
and 5th\, 2008 a new era for Insanity has begun as it \nwas the first
two full band rehearsals with the new line up. Already \nwe are worki
ng on a 11 song set for our first show back on December \n14th 2008. W
e are also starting to work on booking shows in the Bay \nArea and up
and down the West Coast for 2009 besides writing material \nfor a 3rd
album. Although we will be shopping it to labels for \ndistribution\,
a limited amount of the 2nd full length album Visions \nof Apocalypse
with Bud Mills will be released soon and available at \nshows and our
website http://www.blacklungproductions.com/insanity as \nwell as itun
	es\, amazon etc.
