	s.  Arts for Art has been working with Rise Up Creative Music and Arts
	 (RUCMA) to keep real\, a strong presence of innovative music in the L
	ower East Side.  RUCMA is a grassroots alliance of musicians and music
	 lovers\, united to address their creative\, political and practical c
	oncerns through advocacy and action.  Together Arts for Art with RUCMA
	 and a growing group of arts organizations\, aim to change the role of
	 art in society. Our message is that the creative arts are the heart o
	f our community. History has shown that a thriving\, creative artistic
	 community is essential for a healthy\, prosperous\, and intellectuall
	y vital society.\n\nSo far\, Arts for Art has subsidized the costs of 
	this series and other RUCMA activities. On May 9\, 10 and 11\, we will
	 hold a benefit with some of the best New York City improvisers to hel
