The 23 year old singer/songwriter from Melbourne has enjoyed phenomena
l success in her homeland in spite - or perhaps because - of shunning
the usual synthetic packaging and tabloid tackiness. Instead she's ado
pted a more timeless approach\, relying on her undeniable songs and un
forgettable live performances to build a genuine and gimmick free conn
ection with her audience. Missy's new album\, "On A Clear Night"\, ret
ains the hallmarks of her earlier work - irresistible melodies and 'ar
row through the heart' lyrics delivered by a voice that clearly means
it. However\, this time around the tracks benefit from the empathetic
production of Mitchell Froom who helmed the first three Crowded House
albums as well as works by other quality artists such as Ron Sexsmith\
, Elvis Costello\, Paul McCartney and the Finn Brothers. The new album
also showcases the changing world view of a more self assured artist.
There's a quiet strength to these new works which suggests a more con
fident young woman. She's grown up in public and "On A Clear Night" is
the diary she's kept along the way.\n Eric Hutchinsonhttp://profile.m

//www.erichutchinson.com/Few stories underscore the radical changes ex
perienced by the post-millennial music industry than that of Eric Hutc
hinson. Originally nurtured and then abandoned by an established label
started by a pop superstar\, Hutchinson then got discovered by a much
larger audience while unsigned\, thanks to an online plug by a notori
ous Hollywood gossip. Born and raised in the Maryland suburbs of Washi
ngton\, D.C.\, Hutchinson first began performing in public while atten
	ding Emerson College\, a performing arts-oriented university located i
n downtown Boston. Between Emerson's influential campus radio station\
, WERS\, and the thriving local singer/songwriter scene\, the guitaris
t and pianist found enough of an audience for his folk- and jazz-infle
cted brand of AAA pop (somewhere between Jeff Buckley and John Mayer)
to move from Boston to Los Angeles and make a career of it. Hutchinson
self-released his debut album\, That Could've Gone Better\, on his ow
n Let's Break label in summer 2003. The album gained the attention of
	Madonna's Warner Brothers-distributed label\, Maverick Records\, which
had previously broken similar artists like Alanis Morissette and Mich
elle Branch. However\, as Hutchinson was preparing his major-label deb
ut\, Maverick Records became embroiled in a lawsuit with its parent co
mpany\, which effectively shut down the label\; extricating himself fr
om his Maverick contract took Hutchinson the better part of two years\
, but he returned to his own label in 2006 with the release of the wry
ly titled live EP Before I Sold Out. After the release of Hutchinson's
second studio album\, Sounds Like This\, in summer 2007\, online goss
ip maven Perez Hilton raved about the album on his blog. That one ment
ion on one of the most popular websites in the world sent Sounds Like
This into the Top Ten most downloaded albums on iTunes\, peaking at nu
mber seven in September 2007. --Stewart Mason\, All Music Guide\n
