	attan School of Music faculty member Harvie S performs with his trio i
	n the school's Ades Performance Space. Producer\, bandleader\, compose
	r\, and educator Harvie S has performed with masters in jazz music and
	 masters in Latin music including Stan Getz\, Pat Methany\, Chet Baker
	\, Dexter Gordon\, Jim Hall\, Michael Brecker\, Gil Evans and countles
	s others. He can be heard on several hundred CDs with such greats as J
	ames Brown\, Chick Corea\, Mike Stern\, John Scofield\, David Leibman\
	, Michael Brecker\, Tom Harrell\, Pucho and the Latin Soul Brothers\, 
	Kenny Barron\, Pat Martino\, Grover Washington Jr.\, David Mathews\, V
	irginia Mayhew. In addition to his performance career\, Harvie is an a
	ctive educator\; he has held the jazz bass instructor position at Manh
	attan School of Music for both undergraduate and graduate divisions si
	nce 1984. \n\nEver broadening his musical scope\, Harvie started study
	ing Afro-Cuban music eight years ago and has been on the Latin-jazz sc
	ene ever since. He combines both idioms in a bold new music with The H
	arvie S Trio. The music is best described as jazz on the Latin side co
	mbining the melodic and harmonic sophistication of jazz and the extrao
	rdinary rhythmic intensity of Latin music. The Harvie S Trio has perfo
	rmed throughout the world and their newly released third CD\, Texas Ru
	mba\, is receiving rave reviews. It was No. 11 on the CMJ charts and N
	o. 22 on the Jazz Week charts.\n\nThe Harvie S Trio concert is free an
