	xtiles / Recent Art” juxtaposes a selection of the finest examples of 
	20th-century textiles—from Ghana\, Nigeria\, and Mali—with works by a 
	number of Africa’s leading contemporary artists. Comparing and contras
	ting tribal fabrics with contemporary paintings\, sculptures\, and pho
	tographs by African artists\, the exhibition not only draws attention 
	to textiles\, a medium that has previously been overshadowed by tradit
	ional African sculpture\, but also illuminates the connections between
	 past and recent modes of expression. Contemporary artists included in
	 the exhibition are: El Anatsui\, Samuel Cophie\, Viyé Diba\, Sokari D
	ouglas Camp\, Groupe Bogolan Kasobane\, Abdoulaye Konaté\, Rachid Kora
	ïchi\, Atta Kwami\, Grace Ndiritu\, Nike Okundaye\, Owusu-Ankomah\, Yi
	nka Shonibare\, Malick Sidibé\, Nontsikelelo “Lolo” Veleko\, Rikki Wem
