	6The Tennessee Department of Education will again collaborate with TRI
	AD of Vanderbilt to provide teacher training to those staff who work w
	ith children with autism. The training consists of three days of hands
	-on experience with children with autism\, plus the opportunity to rec
	eive a site visit in the trainee's setting within two months of the tr
	aining. Training topics include characteristics\, assessment\, methodo
	logies\, communication\, and behavior. Applicants can include general 
	and special education teachers\, speech-language therapists\, related 
	service personnel\, behavior consultants\, or other school personnel i
	nvolved in educating students with autism. Special education directors
