	ce and Math at Vanderbilt (SSMV)\, a joint venture between Vanderbilt 
	University Medical Center and Metro Nashville Public Schools\, will be
	 accepting applications for the 2009-10 academic year beginning on Jan
	uary 6\, 2009. Applications are due on February 13\, 2009. All MNPS 8t
	h graders are eligible to apply. The School attracts some of the brigh
	test Metro Nashville Public School students who have a passion for sci
	ence and math and it immerses them in the rich and dynamic scientific 
	research environment of Vanderbilt University. The School is a four-ye
	ar commitment for high school students who attend the SSMV classes one
	 day per week throughout the academic year and three consecutive summe
	rs culminating in independent science research projects. The School al
	so gives students access to leading Ph.D. scientists\, Nobel Prize win
	ners\, and some of the most innovative laboratory and field experiment
