Microsoft Silicon Valley Campus\, Bldg. 1 1065 La Avenida Street
	 Mountain View\, \, CA 94043 SDForum Windows SIG and Bay.NET a
re holding a joint event in October. Come hear Juval Lowy\, principal
of IDesign\, talk about using .NET 3.5 and WCF in this highly technic
al presentation in his inimitable style. Topic: Transactions for the
Common Service Transactional programming has traditionally been the p
rivilege of database-centric applications. Other types of applications
did not benefit easily from this superior programming model. In addi
tion\, transactional programming has always required per-call objects\
, which is a non-trivial programming model. But wouldn’t it be grea
t if you could preserve the programming model of regular objects and s
till benefit from transactions? The session starts by briefly discuss
ing the problem space transactions address and the motivation for usin
g them. It then discusses the WCF approach for instance management in
the face of transactions and how you could leverage the support in .N
ET 3.5 for the context binding and durable services to enable any comm
on service (or a class) to benefit from transactions\, without comprom
ising on either the programming model of state-full objects or on the
transactional semantics. Topic: Agenda: 6:30 - Pizza\, soda and net
