DESCRIPTION:  Come celebrate the life and legacy of Frida Kahlo at the
	 3rd Annual Frida Festival on Saturday\, July 11\, 2009 at East End Ur
	ban Market located on 716 Telephone Road. This year's FREE family fest
	ival from 2pm to 6pm will feature a children's art show with students 
	from the Flor de Canto program at Talento Billingue de Houston\, Frida
	 look-alike contest\, piñata\, arts & crafts activities\, DJ\, dance 
	groups\, and poetry. Butter de la Garza aka Reverend Butter will creat
	e an ice sculpture on-site. The Viva La Vida Gala from 9pm to 12am wil
	l include an art show and auction with over 20 participating artists i
	ncluding Lizbeth Ortiz\, Toni Briones\, Christian Navarette\, Julie Za
	rate\, Amanda DeRosario and Stephanie Guajardo\, a Frida look-alike co
	ntest\, fashion show\, dance\, live music and poetry with special gues
	ts El Miocardio and Amira Gongora-Grynsztejn. Must be 21 and older wit
	h ID to attend the gala. Costumes are strongly encouraged! Saturday\,

	tablished in 2007 as not only a celebration of the birthday of Frida\,
	 but an exploration into the life\, art\, passions and history of Frid
	a Kahlo. The purpose of this festival is to embody and promote the val
	ues of creativity\, expression\, community\, and economic development.
	 The festival is organized by local artists Lizbeth Ortiz\, Iris Contr
	eras\, Toni Briones and the East End Urban Market.
