the food to the serving pieces and accessories used at the table\, cra

ative American and western frontier food. Dinner will be served at 6:3
0pm and the presentation will start at 7:00pm. Limit of 30 people per
dinner/program. For menu and to RSVP please call. June 21: 'Living wit
h the Land' The Anishinabe (Chippewa) people made their living from th
e land by harvesting a wide variety of plants and hunting or trapping
various animals. 'Wigwam Kitchen\,' focuses on the Anishinabe culture
as found in the gathering.\, preparing and sharing of food. Through st
ories and facts\, Louise Ogemahgeshig Fischer reveals in a vital light
the struggle and triumph of a great and mighty people whose spiritual
and creative achievements remain alive today. July 19: 'Songs for you
r Supper' Live music and stories show how what we eat reflects who we
are\, who we were\, where we come from. They're about the food we love
to eat and love to remember\, real food that sticks to your ribs and
tastes like home. It's fall-back food when times are tough and go-to-g
rub when we need to bet back to basics. It's t-bones and spuds\, grand
ma's soup\, fried chicken\, lutefish (not for the sissy)\, garden toma
toes\, grits and greens\, lefse\, biscuits and gravy\, watermelon. The
songs celebrate the farm kitchen\, the country roadhouses and the dow
ntown diner. They recall a time when the basic rules of nutrition was
'fill 'er up.' August 16: 'C Kraft in the Kitchen' In its marriage and
celebration of aesthetics and function\, the preparation and presenta
tion of food meets the test of fine craft. 'C Kraft in the Kitchen' is
a program designed to investigate the craftsmanship of food preparati
on and presentation. From the containers\, tools\, and methods used to
prepare the food to the serving pieces and accessories used at the ta
ble\, craft finds its full expression of culture and place at the Amer
ican table. Using photographic images of finely crafted containers\, t
ools\, dishes\, and linens as the basis\, the threads of craft are wov
en with the culture of the kitchen. Melding ideas from history\, art h
	istory\, fine handcraft\, education\, literature\, and anthropology\,
this presentation looks at the role that fine craft plays in American
food traditions\, while also considering the growing impact of mass pr
