SUMMARY:Sustainability Tour: National Wind Technology Center
DESCRIPTION: Visit the Department of Energy's National Wind Technolog
y Center at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory to see the wind-t
o-hydrogen (W2H2) research project\, a partnership of NREL and Xcel En
ergy. This emerging technology takes electricity from wind turbines to
produce and store pure hydrogen\, which is later used to produce elec
	tricity from an internal combustion engine\, a generator\, or a fuel c
ell. Today\, wind power is available only when the wind blows\, requir
ing a back-up energy source. This research has the potential to provid
e "dispatchable" wind power\, making the electricity from wind availab
le on demand. Round-trip bus transportation is included for 50 partici
	pants - board busses downtown at 550 15th Street between 7:30 and 8 a.
	m. Pre-registration is required by August 20. U.S. citizens must bring
a government-issued photo ID\; additional requirements apply for non-
U.S. citizens. Hours: 8 a.m.-12 noonCategory: Free - Open to the Publi
