DESCRIPTION:  EQUALITY FLORIDA IS YOU I am stunned that with such a st
	rong vote for change for the highest office...the Anti-Gay “Marriage 
	Protection Act” passed. I suppose I should not be surprised. Even our
	 "best and brightest" demonstrated a revolting level of apathy. Democr
	acy does not work unless the people participate. Now the greatest docu
	ment of the State of Florida makes it legal to discriminate against th
	e Gay community. This year marked the highest minority voter turnout. 
	I am baffled how any voter could support our first\, self described bl
	ack President\, while simultaneously voting to discriminate against an
	other sub-group. I think the best thing we can take from this election
	 is that\, action equals change. Our local Volunteers\, GLBT populatio
	n and even some of our university GSA’s chose to do little or nothing
	 to work on the NO on 2 Campaign. It is proven that call banks and doo
	r to door canvasses work. It was those very activities\, this grass ro
	ots work\, that elected our new President. We missed a great opportuni
	ty to educate these voters. We missed an opportunity to protect the Ga
	y\, Lesbian\, Bisexual\, and Transgendered community from government s
	anctioned discrimination. Instead so many sat back and hoped someone e
	lse would do the work for them. I suppose the best lesson we can take 
	from this is to respond to the call for action when our rights are bei
	ng violated. Florida and Mississippi are the only states that do not a
	llow gay couples to adopt. You can be fired from your job for being ga
	y here in the sunshine state. You can be denied housing or evicted in 
	most counties including Volusia for being gay. Equality Florida will c
	ontinue to fight. But Equality Florida is YOU! Come to a meeting\, get
