	l.org Sessions Start July 13th and 20th A new Drayton Hall Summer Camp
	 introduces children to the life of Carolina colonists on the grounds 
	of its centuries-old historic site. Young camper-historians will enjoy
	 a special tour of the circa 1738 plantation house\, make bricks\, car
	ve stone\, create plaster designs\, weave and dye cloth\, use items fr
	om their surroundings to fashion their own colonial toys\, and more. R
	ecommended for children ages 5 through 12 years old\, the new camp tak
	es place Monday through Friday\, 9:00am to noon. Session A takes place
	 July 13th through the 17th\; Session B is July 20th through the 24th.
	 Instruction is led by Drayton Halls professional educators\, many wit
	h advanced degrees. $135 per child per week for non-members\; $115 for
	 Friends of Drayton Hall. Includes healthy snacks plus all supplies to

	just the right balance of learning and fun\, Drayton Halls new Colonia
	l Carolina program is everything a summer camp should be\,&148\; said 
	Rikki Davenport\, curator of education. &147\;While learning about pla
	ntations\, children will work in clay to make bricks like the ones use
	d to build Drayton Hall. On other days\, theyll hand loom fabric or ev
	en craft their own toys to better understand what it was like growing 
	up in the 18th century. Every day will bring something new and differe
	nt &151\; older kids will enjoy the challenge and younger campers will
	 love mastering simple techniques. At the end of each summer session\,
	 all campers will come away with new learning\, great memories\, and l
	ots of take-homes.&148\; Days one and two of Drayton Halls new Colonia
	l Carolina summer camp begin with Building A Plantation\, which includ
	es the house tour and four different crafts plus learning about rice c
	ultivation. The remaining three days cover Enslaved Culture\, the Plan
	tation Household\, and Games & Pastimes&151\;each day filled with lear
	ning opportunities in the form of creative activities. A Museum Satell
	ite Shop will be set up on Friday for campers who would like to purcha
	se items (most priced at $6.00 and under) related to their Colonial Ca
	rolina experience. One of the highlights of each summer session will t
	ake place on the last day when campers get to conduct a private house 
	tour for parents\, grandparents\, or guardians at no additional charge
	. \n
