SUMMARY:Basic Yoga at Health & Harmony
DESCRIPTION: I never miss Saturday yoga. Iyengar yoga has changed my
life to such a degree that I now run the Health & Harmony meetup group
. Learn about Iyengar yoga here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iyengar_
yoga I wouldn't normally post basic yoga by Sondra\, but right now we
have room for more people. I recommend this class to anyone who has so
me familiarity with yoga. If you have joint or back issues\, Sondra is
skilled\, gentle and knowledgeable. Iyengar yoga uses props to help p
eople challenged by bad backs\, knees\, etc. http://www.meetup.com/Hea
	lth-and-Harmony-Center-in-South-Fort-Myers/calendar/9669176/ Five clas
ses are $65 (you don't have to take them in sequence) or you can just
buy the one session. Please RSVP to our Baby Boomers site so I know wh
o's coming. Dress comfy and leave your shoes at the door. You don't ha
ve to bring anything but an open mind. Class runs til about 1:00. I al
ways float out feeling like I've had a massage. (You can get those the
re too!) Please contact me with questions - mickisuzanne@yahoo.com (Ka
ndy Love\, owner of Health & Harmony\, appears in this photo.)\n

SUMMARY:Philosophy of History
DESCRIPTION: This meeting will discuss the ideas & facts found in the
Wikipedia article on the Philosophy of History (including any of the
link tangents that anyone might be interested in). I have not been abl
e to find a better or more complete summary of this subject\, and I ce
rtainly don’t think that I could write one. So\, for this session we
will rely on Wikipedia for our basic foundation. This is not a simple
or obvious subject – it requires at least some grounding in the basic
terms & concepts of the field (and perhaps a lot if you’re so inclin
ed). And therefore there is a prerequisite to attending this session:
All participants should read the Wikipedia synopsis before arriving\,
as well as bring a printed copy of it with you to our meeting so that
each of us has the information close at hand during discussion. I thin
k this will greatly facilitate a more in-depth conversation over this
broad topic. Below is the intro from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.or
g/wiki/Philosophy_of_history Philosophy of History is an area of philo
sophy concerning the eventual significance\, if any\, of human history
. Furthermore\, it speculates as to a possible teleological end to its
	 development—that is\, it asks if there is a design\, purpose\, direc
tive principle\, or finality in the processes of human history. Philos
ophy of history asks at least three basic questions: •What is the pro
per unit for the study of the human past — The individual subject? Th
e polis ("city") or sovereign territory? The civilization or culture?
Or the whole of the human species? •Are there any broad patterns that
we can discern through the study of the human past? Are there\, for e
xample\, patterns of progress? Or cycles? Is history deterministic? Or
are there no patterns or cycles\, and is human history random? Relate
d to this is the study of individual agency and its impact in history\
, functioning within\, or opposed to\, larger trends and patterns. •I
f history can indeed be said to progress\, what is its ultimate direct
ion? What (if any) is the driving force of that progress?\n

SUMMARY:DFW Pythoneers 2nd Saturday Hands-On Coding Sprint
DESCRIPTION: New Meeting Location and Earlier Start Time For this eve
nt we're going to meet at the new company|dallas office facilities. Th
ey offer coworking space with lots of amenities we need like WiFi\, wh
iteboards and lots of seating space. But don't worry that you'll have
to drive far\, it's just down the street from Nerdbooks on Collins Blv
	d. While the regular meeting will start at the usual 2pm\, the doors w
ill open at 11am and several people are planning on doing some sprinti
ng. Last time we sprinted on game design using Pyglet. Some people are
also interested in topics such as the Storm DB-API\, the zope.org Sph
inx-based website and the new dfwpython.org Sphinx-based website. Also
a group exploration into the Google App Engine. The actual topics dep
end on who shows up with what interests. Food is permitted so feel fre
e to bring in your lunch and come join us in some collaborative progra
mming! Welcome\, those programming in Python and those wanting to star
t doing so. At our Saturday afternoon meetings we set up a projector f
or presentations\, code reviews of projects and demonstrations of usef
ul add-on packages. Our sessions are often hands-on so bring your lapt
ops ? we have both wired and wireless Internet access at our meetings.
Not every meeting has a formal presentation\, and because our session
s are 3-hours long\, we like to mix it up with different topics. One w
ay of doing so is for members to step forward and give short\, 5-minut
e talks called lightning talks. Relax\, the format is casual and not i
ntended to cover a topic but to introduce it to the attendees or show
off something you're working on. They are a lot of fun and stimulate i
deas for future talks. Please think about a topic and come prepared. I
t could be an simple as just announcing this cool Python library you f
ound on some website one day. Look thru your bookmarks for ideas. For
those just starting out with Python\, if we know you're coming we run
a Beginner's Session from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm\, and then the regular
meeting starts at 2:00 pm. Our sessions run until 5 pm and then often
go out for dinner as a group. Our club wiki page can be found at http
://www.python.org/dfw. Feel free to edit it\, perhaps adding a topic o
f interest to you. We also have a version control repository (based on
Subversion) that anyone is welcome to use for their projects\, and a
mailing list separate from the Python meetup.com forum to which you ca
n subscribe. Details are on the wiki.\n
