DESCRIPTION: Public Reception: January 9th 6 - 9 PM Brooklyn\, New Y
ork\, Ch'i Contemporary Fine Art is proud to present Attitudes and Mag
nitude\, Carri Skozcek's second solo show at Ch'i Contemporary Fine Ar
	t. Join us on Friday\, January 9th from 6 - 9 PM for a public receptio
n with the artist at the gallery's Williamsburg location of 293 Grand
Street between Roebling and Havemeyer. The public is invited to attend
this event and visit the gallery during regular hours: Wed - Sun 11 A
	M - 7 PM\, and Mon. 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. For more information contact th
e gallery at 718 218 8939. Attitudes and Magnitude features portraitu
re in the form of paintings and linocuts. Using her signature style of
pressed powdered paints\, Skoczek's "Babes" as she calls them are cho
ck full of panache in their iridescent splendor. With their transfixin
g gazes\, these women stand strong adorned by the threads they wear\,
yet recalled by the attitude they emanate. Juxtaposed with these fashi
onistas are a series of linocuts where the artist pays homage to the p
owerful matriarchs of the art world including Louise Bourgeois\, Louis
e Nevelson\, Frida Kahlo\, Georgia O'Keefe\, and Pat Oleszko. Attitude
s and Magnitude contrasts the anonymity of these young brazen female f
igures with the identifiable clout of these established personas tying
them together with the commanding presence each one resonates. Artist
