	ty arts event involving filmmaking teams from high school students thr
	ough senior citizens. Competition is good natured\, and teams are chal
	lenged most by the time framework of the event. In previous years\, in
	cluded in the structure was an opportunity for one individual to attem
	pt to act in as many films as possible within the 24-hour period (the 
	Shooting Star award). The true purpose of the event is to provide the 
	community with a unique way to create\, participate in\, and share the
	ir art. Since The Shoot Out is the only (annual) event of this nature 
	in the country\, it distinguishes Boulder within the larger national c
	ommunity. We are creating a special and exciting way for community res
	idents to involve themselves in a start-to-finish artistic process reg
	ardless of their experience level. The results are always impressive a
	nd sometimes surprising. Its difficult to quantify the value of an art
	istic experience\, but the growth and expansion of The Shoot Out speak
	s to its uniqueness\, across-the-board community involvement\, and hig
	h value to all those involved.\n
