	es of effective strategic planning\, and help participants find the th
	in line between "good" planning and over-planning.\n\nParticipants wil
	l:\n\n* Learn how to create an effective one-page strategic plan in on
	e day\n* Learn how to quickly pick winning strategic options\n* Learn 
	how to avoid the pitfalls of over-planning\n\nThe Workshop provides an
	 overview of a full Strategic Planning Session:\n\nStrategic Planning 
	Session\n\nBy the end of a full Strategic Planning session we would ha
	ve these deliverables:\n\n1. A list of our many possible directions\n2
	. A list of the variables affecting us\n3. An Assessment of our Streng
	ths\, Weaknesses\, Opportunities\, and Threats\n4. A framework for wei
	ghing and judging our options (a Strategic Option Selection Process) t
	hat identifies which things we will do\, which things we will not do\,
	 and why.\n5. We then use that framework to help us make some decision
	s about the long term (1-3 year) course\n6. Based on those decisions\,
	 come up with an Action Plan for the coming 3-6 months\n7. If time all
	ows\, create a rough draft Operating Plan (for later refinement) with 
	deadlines\, assignments\, and budgets\n\nThe benefit of these delivera
	bles are:\n\n* You will have a clear\, definite\, specific direction\n
	* You will know why that is your direction\n* You will be able to plug
	 new data and new variables into the framework\, and make course corre
	ctions easily\, in the weeks and months to come\n* You can commit reso
	urces -- and possibly raise funds from others -- based on a solid\, de
	fensible plan that in turn is based on a transparent process and docum
	ented assumptions\n\nAnd the communications benefits are enormous. Wit
	h both a Strategic Plan and a team that has worked together to create 
	that plan\, you will be able to easily and quickly keep staff\, volunt
	eers\, stakeholders\, and the public (as well as HQ) in the loop\, and
	 your ability to respond to emergent events will increase. You also re
	duce the damage that reactivity can have on your long term projects an
