DESCRIPTION:  Throughout 2008\, FOR member Steve Whiteman teaches a fr
	ee course in the appreciation of classic film and associated popular c
	ulture. The course is full\, but seats often become available to see i
	ndividual films. The movies will be recognized classics\, the majority
	 from Hollywood’s Golden Age — the 1930s and 40s — and the rest fro
	m other eras or other countries\, with broad exposure to key directors
	\, actors\, and genres. Programs will include a cartoon and/or short s
	ubject\; coming attractions\; the feature film\; and clips and comment
	ary on personnel\, techniques\, and relevant popular culture\, with di
	scussion interspersed. Books and films will be prizes in the regular t
	rivia contests. The group meets twice a month\, on the evening of the
