Topic: "Current Community and Crime Perspectives in Prince George's County"
Speaker: Roberto L. Hylton, Chief of Police, Prince Georges County Police Department
About the Speaker: Roberto L. Hylton began his career with the Prince Georges County Police Department in 1981. Chief Hylton has risen through the ranks and served the department in many assignments. They include: Assistant Chief of Police heading the departments entire patrol force; Special Operations Division; Violent Crimes and Gang Unit; Auto Crimes Task Force; Youth and Family Services; and Court Services. In addition, he has commanded the departments Bureau of Support Services which is comprised of the Criminal Investigations and Narcotics Enforcement Divisions; and the Forensics and Technical Services Divisions. Chief Hylton holds a Masters of Science degree in Management from John Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Columbia Union College. Chief Hylton was born in the Canal Zone of Panama and is fluent in Spanish. He currently serves on Governor OMalleys Commissionon Hispanic Affairs. A strong advocate of community policing, Chief Hylton has established a tone and sense of urgency with his police department and community. Chief Hyltons philosophy, one team, one mission, to fight crime while achieving excellence is the agencys driving mission.
