Water We Going to Do?: An Earth Day Event “Protecting Land & Water Purity on Long Island The question of the day is "Water We Going to Do?" Experts from Stony Brook University, The Nature Conservancy and the Long Island Pine Barrens Society will present programs on current threats to water quality, what’s being done to reverse the problem, and how Long Island has met environmental challenges in the past. Speakers will include Dr. Andrew Griffith from Stony Brook University, Kevin McDonald from The Nature Conservancy and Richard Amper from the Long Island Pine Barrens Society. New York State Senator Ken LaValle and State Assemblyman Steve Englebright will speak about environmental accomplishments of the past and what is necessary in the face of Long Island’s water quality challenge. "I can’t think of a more appropriate way to mark the 48th anniversary of Earth Day,” said Ellen Ryan, co-producer of the program. “Protecting the environment starts at home. Addressing Long Island’s water quality must be an ongoing, high-priority initiative.” Please register for this free event, as space is limited.
