With hummingbird season just around the corner, it's time to pay tribute to the tiny creatures that can be seen moving through Texas on their journeys toward Mexico or Central America around this time every year. During the Xtreme Hummingbird Xtravaganza at the Gulf Coast Bird Observatory in Lake Jackson, you'll have the opportunity to see hummingbirds up-close and even watch a "bird bander" take the little bird's measurements.
After you get your fill of hummingbirds, stay a while to walk the trails and browse the on-site store. The festivities will be held from 8 a.m. to noon.
