As part of the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Festival, MECA presents Greetings from a Queer Seňorita,  a one-woman monologue show that fills your soul with laughter.

You will experience Monica Palacios' (pictured, photo by John Ellis) enriching stories of coming out to her family, the whole media circus that surrounds the rights of gays to marry legally and educates on the merging of nationality and sexuality. She brings to reality the things she usually deals with most: culture, food, chicks and revolution.

Los Angeles based writer/performer Monica Palacios; former member of Culture Clash is one of the most respected queer Chicana soloists working today. She is the creator of several one-woman shows and is recognized though many awards such as, El Premio Mujer Award 2003 and Indie Award for Excellence in Play Writing.

Monica has been named one of the 16 most influential LGBT Latinas in the country by Tentaciones Magazine and is an adjunct professor at Loyola Marymount University, California State University Los Angeles, The American Academy of Dramtic Arts, UC Santa Barbara, UCLA and UC Riverside. Palacios has been a director, writer & dramaturgy for over 300 student theater projects. Her performances and publications continue to be studied in college curriculums throughout the country and internationally.
