Description
One hell of a ride....The Gamblers are putting together a ride to Breckenridge, CO for Oktoberfest. Day 1 (580 miles) - We will meet up Wednesday September 15, 2010 at 5:45 am at the El Palenque Mexican Grill parking lot on the southeast corner of I-45 and 2920 in Spring, TX next to McDonalds and Splashtown. We will leave there at 6 am sharp and head North on I-45 to Ennis where we will head North on 287 through Ft. Worth and meet up with any Ft. Worth Chapter members that are going. We will continue to our stop Amarillo, TX for the night. Day 2 (460 miles) - Get up and ride through Santa Fe, NM North to Dolce, New Mexico where we will stay at a Best Western with or near a casino. Day 3 (380 miles) - Get up and head north through San Juan National Forest and continue North - Northeast to Breckenridge, CO all while enjoying really nice scenic mountain roads. Day 4 - We will be in Breckenridge on Saturday to be at the Oktoberfest and to do some Misc riding. Day 5 - Misc riding through awesome mountain roads and some resting. Day 6 - We will make our way back Monday on the nice, but quicker route to Houston and stop somewhere along the way on Hwy 287 for the night. Day 7 - Head home to Houston, Although I said we would be back Wednesday i left us an extra day incase of emergencies or a day to rest before having to head back to work. Lodging: I list the places along the way we will stay when we get to Spring 2010, but as for Breckenridge there all types on condos in town or there is a nice Holiday inn I always stay at there in Frisco, CO (10 Min North of Breck) with an indoor pool and hot tub and food places all around. There are also tons of houses for rent in the mountains if we get a group of people interested. If anyone has an RV they would like to use there is a really nice RV campground on the North end of Breckenridge called Tiger Run http://www.tigerrunresort.com/ , but they have a minimum length of RV in order to stay there. I will have more details about this trip and lodging sometime Spring 2010. Also, this trips location could change the week or two before, due to weather. Breck is usually snow free this time of year, but if it does happen to snow we will still do the ride the same week just to a different location about the same amount of mileage. I don't do Snow and Ice...forget that !!! Again I will keep everyone in the loop. Lucky
