Mike Reed
Mike was born in Lakeland, Florida, but has lived in the Houston area for most of his life. In high school (Alief Elsik H.S.) he was awarded the LOUIS ARMSTRONG JAZZ AWARD. Upon graduation, he went on to college, majoring in music. Attending Blinn College in Brenham '81-'83, he walked away with OUTSTANDING SOLOIST AWARD at the SAM HOUSTON JAZZ FESTIVAL. From '84-'86 he was at the Southwest Texas State University where he was awarded OUTSTANDING SOLOIST at the WICHITA JAZZ FESTIVAL in Kansas. He capped-off his college career at the University of Houston in '87-'89 by walking away with OUTSTANDING SOLOIST again at the SAM HOUSTON JAZZ FESTIV...Links
