INTRODUCING A NEW KIDS’ LITERACY SUPERHERO!
HoustonPBS to debut first “Martha Speaks” episode of new PBS program
at the Children's Museum of Houston

Walk down the red carpet and get the star treatment at the Children's Museum of Houston, where the first episode of PBS’ “Martha Speaks” program will make its debut on Labor Day, September 1.

“Martha Speaks” (www.pbskids.org/martha), based on the best-selling book series by Susan Meddaugh, is about a curious dog named Martha who starts to speak after eating a bowl of alphabet soup! The newfound ability, combined with her imagination, sends Martha through a series of exciting and humorous adventures! This delightful and educational show is aimed toward children ages 4 – 7 with important lessons that will help improve their vocabulary.

You heard right! Walk down our red carpet and be interviewed before the show, just like a movie star! After the show, keep the ball rolling with the following activities:
-Make your own alphabet soup by fishing for letters and form words from your catches!
-Hear more of Martha’s adventures at the Parent Resource Library where we’ll have story times!
-Sign-up for a Houston Public Library Power Card, so you’ll have the power to check books in and out!
