Description
Houston Cinema Art Society presents Lynn Hershman Leeson: Screening and Coversation, Part One: NEW MEDIA PROJECTS, at 7pm Saturday, November 22, at the Museum of Fine Arts Brown Auditorium.
In the course of a conversation with festival curator Richard Herskowitz about her recent ventures in new media, Lynn Hershman Leeson (pictured) will premiere her latest short film,
CURING THE VAMPIRE (35 min.), in which she plays the part of Gene Ware, a character from the virtual world of Second Life, Leeson undertakes a set of interviews in conjunction with Tilda Swinton, posing questions to a selection of guests, including a politician, journalist, scientist and lawyer.
Leeson will also do a live demonstration of her interactive online archive on Second Life, LIFE SQUARED, interfacing with the Presence Project at the Stanford Humanities Lab.
Finally, she will show a preview of her upcoming feature documentary, which combines interviews, artwork, and rarely seen archival film and video footage to chronicle the feminist art movement in the United States from 1968 to the present.
