HOUSTON JAZZ IN THE VILLAGE MEETUP GROUP November Meetup

Stop the press! We have a recall on that last announcement! That was last month's show. It seems that you all missed it. It was nothing short of super ba-a-a-a-a-d! We heard the top ranking women of jazz in the Houston area. The next show will be held on November 10th. We moved it to the following Tuesday due to the election. We don't want to compete with that. Don't forget to vote for your favorite candidates! So, here's what's coming up November 10th. The JAZZ PRODIGIES will be there to show off their musical genius for the meet-up group. We've invited some of the youth from the area in hopes of stimulating them towards an appreciation of America's original classical music. We believe there is a potential for jazz to seep into the hearts of the young if they can see some of their peers playing and enjoying it. So, who are the JAZZ PRODIGIES? They are a group of middle school students who've reached a level of execution on their instruments that is nothing short of professional. They have appeared on stages all over Houston with the finest performers across the country. We also hope to have a youth steel drum orchestra of 24 children who participated in the summer music program at the S.H.A.P.E. Center where we have the meet-up group. There will be an exchange with the JAZZ PRODIGIES and the youth who are scheduled to attend. Would you like to sponsor a child to attend this meet-up? Please call or email us. We're asking for $10 per child to cover our expenses which includes some drinks and snack foods along with a full blown concert featuring the JAZZ PRODIGIES as-well-as THE TEXAS SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY LATIN JAZZ ENSEMBLE. We'll need to know ahead of time so we can make sure we'll have enough goodies to go around. One more thing. If you sponsor a child, it is your responsibility to attend with them. It's part of our effort to close the generation gap existing between the jazzers and the hip-hopsters. Please sponsor as many as you can afford. As usual Professor Howard Harris will be there in full bloom jazzical form shaperoning his young prodigies for the night. THE TEXAS SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY'S LATIN JAZZ ENSEMBLE is another of TSU'S outsanding jazz ensembles. With Professor 'POPS' Harris directing you can see why they like all the other jazz ensembles of TSU have taken loads of awards at various collegiate jazz expositions around the nation. Once again we are presenting to you, the HOUSTON-JAZZ-IN-THE-VILLAGE-MEET-UP GROUP an exellent opportuinity to listen to, dance to, talk to, eat to, drink to, meditate to, and whatever else is legal to ................GREAT JAZZ MUSIC!!!
