Cinema Arts Festival Houston Finale – The Red Shoes

Anheuser-Busch Stage
An event combining dance and film for the grand finale of the Cinema Arts Festival. Tilda Swinton, Academy-Award winning British actress, introduces The Red Shoes, the 1948 film that has inspired countless dancers. To start, Houston Ballet II presents an exciting program. Garrett Smith’s Den III is an exciting and edgy work set to the music of Tielman Susato with eye-catching costumes by Travis Halsey. Stanton Welch’s energetic early work Blue is an ode to the beauty of classical dance set to music by Antonio Vivaldi, exploring emotions through the colors of chakras (the seven energy centers of the body). Showcasing Houston Ballet II’s classical technique is the extravagant love story Raymonda choreographed by Marius Petipa.
