Beginner Zen Meditation

Venerable Grand Master Wei Chueh Calm your mind and discipline your thoughts through meditation in a quiet, peaceful space. Under the guidance of zen master, Jian Zong Shifu, learn to practice the principles of zen buddhism. In the beginner class series, there are usually 30 to 50 participants per class. Each class lasts about 2 hours with the first hour for meditation and the latter hour for a dharma lecture. Although it is not necessary to rsvp through the meetup.com site, you are encouraged rsvp here if you want to let other members know that you will be there. Get to know your dharma friends and help each other practice The Way. As these classes are not specific to our meetups, a Meetup host or representative may not be present for each class. However, since these classes are organized by the Center, helpful class assistants are always available to answer questions and provide guidance to new students in every class. People from all different religions, ethnicities, professions, and backgrounds come to the Chung Tai Zen Center of Houston. Lastly, since there are no fees for the classes, donations are encouraged as the center is supported entirely by the generiosity of its participants and volunteers. Meditation class schedule: Beginner: Wednesday 7:30pm to 9:30pm or Saturday 10:00am to 12:00pm Intermediate: Sunday 10:00am to 12:00pm Advance: Thursday 7:30pm to 9:30pm Children (ages 6-12) & Youths (ages 12-18): Friday 7:00pm to 9:00pm Half day retreat: Every first Sunday of each month from 9:00am to 12:00pm Mandarin language class (learn conversational Mandarin Chinese): Saturday 1:30pm to 3:30pm
