Against The Tide

This summer will mark the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition's 18th
Annual Statewide Against the Tide: Swim, Walk, Kayak, Run event, in
Hopkinton on June 19th, and in Brewster on August 21st. Each event
brings
together hundreds of participants, all of whom are committed to
putting an
end to the breast cancer epidemic. We hope you will join them, and the
Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition, in our goal towards prevention.

The MBCC is the state's largest breast cancer organization committed
to breast
cancer advocacy and public education in Massachusetts. Since our
inception
in 1991, the MBCC's focus has always been on the pursuit of primary
prevention of the disease through identifying causes linked to the
environment. Prevention is the cure!

Our event, which is 18 years ago, was the only swim for breast cancer,
and has evolved to include 2 mile kayak, 3 mile fitness walk, 1 mile recreational/ or competitive swim, and a 5k run event, to enable more
opportunities from which participants can choose. The day is filled
with fun
and accomplishment. Seeing survivors, families, and friends all
gathered together,
with devotion to a shared purpose, is truly inspiring.

There is also an opportunity for you to be represented at the event by
creating
a team of swimmers, walkers, kayakers or runners. This will enable you
to
share the spotlight with our media friends throughout Massachusetts by
supporting the team effort, and it provides tremendous community
exposure.
